getDigital was founded in 2002 by Philipp Stern and Florian Schatz with an impressive starting capital of 1000 euros. The two started programming at 11 or 12 years old (back then in BASIC and with the C64) and founded their own company at 18, working as code monkeys creating various websites and shop pages for clients. In June 2002, they realized that there was no shop in all of Europe that specifically appealed to computer enthusiasts. Of course, they had to change that, and that's how getDigital came into existence.

After more than thirteen years in business, four different office locations (from Florian's mom's basement to his grandfather's attic to the rooms of an old dance school in Kiel-Projensdorf and finally to the "estate" in the Kiel-Wellsee industrial area), an uncountable number of different internet providers (and none of them are fast enough), and a million shipped shirts and gadgets (at least it feels like it), we still can't get enough. No wonder with such an amazing team like ours! To show you who stands behind getDigital and who is responsible for what, you'll find the most important information about our departments here:

All the products you can order in our shop are stored in our warehouse. Your order arrives here and all packages are assembled and packed here. In the shirt section, we freshly print your new t-shirt with the desired design.

If you have questions, are in a bad mood, or something goes wrong, our customer service team is here to help. If you have a problem with an order or a product, we'll assist you at any time. If necessary, we'll heroically take on the battle with DHL, technical issues, or defective products—we promise!

Of course, nothing runs in a geek shop without IT. :) For example, our new shop was programmed here. Everything that happens behind the scenes is also managed by the tech team, such as the ordering system or the mail system through which we answer customer inquiries or purchase new products.

Procurement ensures we have stock. On one hand, we reorder popular items, and on the other hand, we're constantly searching for new products. We're in contact with retailers around the globe, mostly communicating in English. Besides large manufacturers, small inventors are also among those who supply us with geek stuff.

Product development is also very important to us: We place particular emphasis on implementing our own product ideas. From the initial idea to the finished gadget can be a long journey, and the result is several of our geeky bestsellers. A new product requires the right designers, manufacturers, and someone to watch the budget. ;) Once an item finally arrives in our warehouse, product management takes over. It's thoroughly measured and checked for all legal requirements. In the EU, for example, there are quite a few notices that certain products must carry. Finally, we add photos, texts, and all important information for the shop so you can get a good picture of your new gadget.

It's actually hard to imagine, but there really are still geeks and nerds in Europe who've never heard of us! To change that, we advertise on all the channels where you hang out: For example, we feed Google, Facebook, and Instagram with ads or write cool posts for our social media profiles. We also make sure our products are well-placed on Amazon so that nerds who haven't found their way to our website yet can still find us.

The management represents the company (we are a GmbH), ensures everything runs smoothly, and is responsible for coordinating staff and the company's overall strategy. This means, for example, that new projects like our Loot Box are planned together with our CEO. And if something doesn't work, he's of course the first point of contact. ;)
