Most mechanical keyboards are big and heavy. Wireless mini versions are great... in theory. But it can be hard to find ones that are reliable, and even then, they have low running times and problems with ghosting.
So
Matias released a keyboard combining the benefits of mechanical keyboards with the advantages of a wireless connection. And as an added security layer, the connection with your PC is encrypted using an 128-bit AES algorithm.
Compact, light and quiet
Mechanical keyboards are heavy. An embedded steel plate and a lot of switches add up to a weight much higher than that of plastic keyboards. But the
Mini Secure Pro keyboard weighs only about 950g and has dimensions of 34 x 16.5 x 4cm - ideal for carrying around and for trips. Plus the built-in
Quiet Switches suppress the typical staccato sound associated with mechanical keyboards.
1600 mAh battery
The built-in battery ensures a long running time - 6 months to a year on a single charge with normal use. Recharging takes about 5 hours. When the keyboard is connected via USB to a charging port (PC or adaptor) 2 of its USB ports can be used to power additional USB devices. A 1A power adaptor is needed for this to work. (Data transmission is not possible.)
Nano-USB receiver
The Nano-USB receiver ensures a stable connection. A very special feature of this keyboard is its
128-bit AES encryption, so ‘listening in to transmissions is nearly impossible. Usually, a lot of normal wireless keyboards have lower polling rates so as to increase battery life. But the
Mini Secure Pro keyboard's high polling rate of 200hz avoids latency between user input and the command actually being transmitted.
Anti-Ghosting circuitry
A lot of wireless keyboards are not able to transmit certain key combinations, generate certain characters or suppress single keys. This is due to ghosting. The
Matias Mini Secure Pro has special circuitry built in to avoid these problems.
Laser-etched keys
To avoid wear and tear on the symbols
Matias have burnt the symbols into the keys with a laser. This guarantees that all the symbols will always be readable, with no wearing over time. Plus, sculpted key tops are curved to fit your finger tips.
Media controls
The
Mini Secure Pro features audio and media control keys accessible with the 'Fn' key.
Note: If using Linux, a hid_Apple driver is needed. The configuration has to be changed for the audio and media keys to work. While booting, the keyboard will not be recognised by Linux.
The keyboard can be used with Mac OS. The 'Alt' + 'Win' keys have to be changed to 'Option' + 'Command'.
